CitiLoft One Condominium - LOCATION

The city of Cebu is a highly urbanized city which is considered a business, finance, trade and education center in one of the most known island provinces in the central Visayas region. It is a main shipping port in the Philippines; in fact, almost 80% of the country’s shipping companies do business in Cebu City.

Aside from its abundant natural resources, Cebu also has a rich history. It was the first settlement during the Spanish occupation, and was the first capital city. It is also known as the ‘Fount of Christianity’ in Asia.

In terms of top industries, business process outsourcing companies also troop to the Philippines and Cebu is a top destination. The city is also home to some of the country’s top shipbuilding companies. Another fast-growing industry in Cebu is real estate—as evidenced in the rise of vertical developments such as CitiLoft Condominium. Popular lifestyle centers, like Ayala Center Cebu, are flocked by thousands of locals and guests.

General Maxilom Avenue, aka Mango Avenue, is named after a hero of the Philippine revolution. General Arcadio Maxilom was a public school teacher before joining the Katipunan. He valiantly led the Katipuneros after the death of their leader, Leon Kilat. General Maxilom’s funeral cortage is known as the longest by far in Cebu’s history.

Located near Fuente Osmeña and Jones Avenue, the area is known as popular lifestyle destination in Cebu City. It has schools like St. Theresa’s College and University of San Carlos-North Campus, churches like Church of Our King and Iglesia ni Cristo; banks like Bank of the Philippine Island, Sterling Bank, Metrobank, PBCom and Union Bank; retail centers like Mango Square Mall, One Mango Avenue and Fooda; and restaurants and entertainment hotspots like Sunburst, Handuraw, Jollibee, Greenwich, Gimik, The Beat, YOU Restobar and Casanova.

Cebu City is home to a number of top academic institutions so schooling options are never a problem for parents of school-age kids. Among them are Cebu International School, Cebu Institute of Technology – University, Southwestern University, Ateneo de Cebu, Colegio de la Immaculada Concepcion, Cebu Eastern College, University of Cebu and Cebu Technological University. For parents who prefer public schools, Cebu City has 23 national high schools, 68 public elementary schools and 28 night schools plus a public library.

The first school to be granted a university status is located in Cebu—the University of Visayas. It is known for its medical courses including dentistry, pharmacy and nursing, among others. Also a celebrated school in Cebu City is University of San Carlos. It has five campuses around the metropolitan area. The University of the Philippines also has a campus in Cebu and it is located near Lahug. The University of San Jose-Recoletos has two campuses in the city and is run by Augustinian Recollects. The Philippine Normal University also has a branch in Cebu called the Cebu Normal University. For courses in health sciences, a top choice among aspiring medical professionals is the Cebu Doctor’s University.

Aside from business, culture is another reason why so many people visit or live in Cebu. The city is a site of many historical landmarks like the Magellan’s Cross—erected by Ferdinand Magellan when he arrived in the Philippines in 1521. Presently housed in a chapel, the cross is a powerful symbol of Filipinos’ Catholic faith. Among Catholics, the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, also known as Church of the Holy Child, is a must-visit. Built out of hewn stone, it is the first church to be established in Cebu. Before it was declared a basilica in 1965, this was first an Augustinian church. It is also a historical site because it houses the figure of the Santo Niño de Cebu—the oldest relic in the Philippines.

Other top tourist spots in Cebu City include Fort San Pedro also known as Fuerza de San Pedro. The fort will take visitors back to the time of the first Spanish settlement in the Philippines which was under the commands of Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. For those who are interested in learning more about Taoism, the Taoist Temple is open for worshippers and tourists. It was built in 1972 and is located in Beverly Hills Subdivision. This tourist site requires some level of physical energy because the entrance to the temple requires visitors to go up a lot of steps.

CitiLoft is also near Cebu City’s newest attraction—Sky Experience Adventure which features the world’s First Edge Coaster, the country’s first ever Skywalk Extreme and a 4D theater. For unit owners, this means that CitiLoft has great potential as source of income from rental and transient home leasing during peak tourist season.

Every third Sunday of January, Cebuanos celebrate the Sinulog Festival in honor Santo Niño. It is usually celebrated as a dance ritual that resembles the current of the river, thus its name. For music lovers, the Cebu Reggae Festival is one of the country’s biggest reggae festivals. Meanwhile, the Lifedance and Sinulog Invasion are rave music festivals held before the actual Sinulog. Founded in 1980 and held every year, the Cebu Pop Music Festival celebrates Cebuano language pop songs.

Cebu City is also known for its mouthwatering culinary delights including sweet treats and pasalubong like Otap, Lechon Cebu and dried fish more popularly known as danggit.
